Luster is the most gripping book I've read in a long time. Like other reviewers, I picked it up for a bit of casual reading—and found myself, two hours later, still in the same place, gorging myself on Raven Leilani's prose. I've read other unputdownable books before. However, these are usually suspense/thrillers, like Gone Girl. The plot isn't "the thing" in Luster. The plot is a vehicle for Leil
